If you ever wanted to get involved in a short horror film, we'll nows your chance. As THE WAKE need your support to make it happen.

Lamb Films are proud to be involved in the production of the Irish short film THE WAKE. The films writer and director RIk Gordon is a real horror fan and has chosen the rural area hew grew up in as the films locations.

THE WAKE is a new and exciting short Irish horror film set around a traditional Irish funeral. Lamb Films are excited to be helping out by providing staff, office space and insurance for the production.

An Irish wake is funeral tradition associated with Ireland; the wake is a send-off for departed loved ones that occurs from the time of death till the body is handed over to the church. The wake is a crucial part of the grieving process.

Roma Cunningham is the films producer and has advantage of being local to the films location. Roma is a regular part of the Lamb Films set up, as she was a trainee producer on SCARE-A-THON and a producer on THE DICK.

Sarah McNight will be designing the set and Sarah Laura Hauenstien will be 1st Assistant Director. The film is looking for cast and crew at the moment please see below how you can get involved.

Casting Call

"A young Englishman is led to a traditional Irish wake by his new girlfriend. Given a cold reception by the family he finds himself involved in a custom that is not so traditional…"

Short psychological Irish horror film. The film will be dark and suspenseful. Running time will be 10-15 mins and will be entered in Irish & International film festivals..

Shooting dates are the 7 - 11 November 2016 at a location in Ireland.

The main roles will be paid however the amount will depend on funding received. Expenses will be covered and accommodation & catering will of course be provided.

Our previous short film "The Pigman" screened in festivals worldwide and picked up Best Short at Dingle Film Festival and Best Sound at Limerick Film Festival as well as being nominated for Best Camera and Best Drama. You can view the trailer here.

Claire

Claire is in her mid-twenties, she has a dark intense look. Claire, Irish, 24. Her uncle has just died and she gives Peter, her new boyfriend, the cold shoulder. Secretly she has led Peter into a trap and finds herself with an inner conflict. She is cunning and can be deceptive. The audience are unsure of Claire.

Peter

Peter is in his mid/ late twenties he is English, naive looking, likeable, not too handsome, gullible and goofy. Peter, English, 26, doting boyfriend brought to a traditional Irish wake by his new girlfriend. He finds himself greeted by a cold reception. Not the smartest, Peter is a bit naive. But will do anything to please his new girlfriend Claire. The audience will understand Peters discomfort being in this new environment.

Eugene

Eugene is in his 70's. The actor playing Eugene must be physically fit and be between the ages of 60-70. This role require extensive make-up to be applied for effect. It's uncle Eugene's funeral. He is a mysterious creature and is at the centre of fear within the story.

Jack

Jack is in his 60's, he has a kind face which he uses to deceive the vulnerable around him.

Looking for Crew

We are currently looking for the following:

DOP

  • Short psychological horror film
  • Filming in N. Ireland / R. Ireland
  • 4 Days – Week beginning 7th Nov 2016
  • Preferably DoP with own equipment
  • IRISH BASED ONLY PLEASE
  • Please provide examples of work including low-light night scenes

DoP required for short horror film. Preferably based in N. Ireland or RoI. Experience on dark horror films preferable with examples of recent work. Working closely with director and small dedicated crew, the film will have a unique classic look. Experience with lighting outdoor night / rain scenes would also be good. Own equipment preferred, good camera with low-light capabilities. Shoot will be 4 days during week of 7th November 2016. Knowing how tough the job of a DoP is on a short film like this we aim to pay the best we can. Securing funding is still in progress, but will be at the least min wage plus expenses. We do promise however you will be well looked after with good food and accommodation. I would really be interested in meeting up with potential DoP’s beforehand so please get in touch.

MuA

MakeUp Artist required for short horror film. Preferably based in N. Ireland or RoI. Experience on dark horror films preferable with examples of recent work. Working closely with director and small dedicated crew, the film will have a unique classic look. Experience with prosthetics. creating burns, exposed flesh, bone. Shoot will be 4 days during week of 7th November 2016. Knowing how tough the job of a MuA is on a short film like this we aim to pay the best we can. As we have not yet secured funding though we cannot promise the best pay at the moment, but will be at the least min wage plus expenses. We do promise however you will be well looked after with good food and accommodation.
